Managing Movies

Power Scraper Pro makes organizing your movie collection effortless. This guide walks you through the complete workflow.

Adding Movies

Scan a Folder

Click Add Folder

Click the + button or press ⌘O to open the folder picker.

Select Your Movies Folder

Navigate to where your movie files are stored and click Open.

Wait for Scanning

Power Scraper Pro scans the folder and identifies movie files. You’ll see a progress indicator.

Review Results

Discovered movies appear in the library. Files that couldn’t be identified are marked for review.
Supported Formats: MKV, MP4, AVI, M4V, MOVPower Scraper Pro automatically filters out sample files and files below your minimum size threshold.

What Gets Detected

Power Scraper Pro extracts information from filenames including:
  • Title and YearThe Matrix (1999).mkv
  • Quality — 1080p, 4K, BluRay, WEB-DL, HDR
  • Edition — Director’s Cut, Extended, IMAX
  • Codec — H.264, HEVC, AV1
  • Audio — TrueHD Atmos, DTS-HD MA, 5.1, 7.1
Even complex filenames like The.Matrix.1999.2160p.UHD.BluRay.x265.HDR.DTS-HD.MA.7.1 are parsed correctly.

Scraping Metadata

Once movies are in your library, you need to scrape metadata from TMDB.

Scrape All Pending

  1. Click Scrape Pending in the toolbar or press ⌘R
  2. Power Scraper Pro fetches metadata for all unscraped movies
  3. Progress is shown in the toolbar and via notifications

Scrape Selected Movies

  1. Select one or more movies in the grid or list
  2. Right-click and choose Scrape Selected
  3. Or click the Scrape button in the toolbar

What Gets Downloaded

For each movie, Power Scraper Pro fetches:

Handling Failed Matches

Sometimes automatic matching fails, especially for:
  • Movies with generic names
  • Foreign films
  • Very new or obscure titles
  1. Select the failed movie
  2. Click Search TMDB or right-click → Search Manually
  3. Enter the correct movie name (and optionally year)
  4. Select the correct result from the list
  5. Click Use This Match
Power Scraper Pro remembers your corrections. If you have similar filenames in the future, it will use the correct match automatically.

Artwork Management

Changing Artwork

Don’t like the auto-selected poster or fanart?
  1. Select the movie
  2. In the detail panel, click on the poster or fanart
  3. Browse available options from TMDB and Fanart.tv
  4. Click to select a new image

Adjusting Fanart Position

Fanart (backdrop) images can be repositioned for better display:
  1. Select a movie
  2. Click Adjust Artwork or the adjustment icon
  3. Drag the slider to reposition the image vertically
  4. Click Save
This is useful when faces or important elements are cropped in certain Kodi skins.

Renaming & Organizing

Power Scraper Pro can rename and organize your files into a clean folder structure.

Kodi-Standard Format

Movies are organized as:
Movie Name (Year)/
├── Movie Name (Year).mkv
├── Movie Name (Year).nfo
├── poster.jpg
└── fanart.jpg

How to Rename

  1. Select the movies you want to organize
  2. Click Rename & Organize or right-click → Rename
  3. Preview the changes
  4. Click Apply
Renaming moves your actual video files. Power Scraper Pro uses atomic operations to ensure safety, but always have backups of important media.

Deleting Movies

Remove from Library

Removes the movie from Power Scraper Pro but keeps all files on disk:
  1. Select the movie(s)
  2. Press Delete or right-click → Remove from Library

Delete Files

Removes the movie AND deletes files from disk:
  1. Select the movie(s)
  2. Right-click → Delete Files
  3. Confirm the deletion
All deletions can be undone with ⌘Z during your session.

Pro Tips

  • Batch Operations — Select multiple movies with ⌘-Click or Shift-Click to scrape, rename, or delete in bulk
  • Filter by Status — Use the sidebar to show only unscraped, failed, or scraped movies
  • Grid vs List — Toggle between views depending on whether you want to see artwork or details
