API Keys Setup

Power Scraper Pro uses external services to fetch metadata and artwork. You’ll need at least a TMDB API key to get started.

TMDB API Key (Required)

TMDB (The Movie Database) provides movie and TV show metadata including titles, plots, cast, crew, ratings, and basic artwork.

Create a TMDB Account

Go to themoviedb.org and click Join TMDB in the top right.

Verify Your Email

Check your inbox and click the verification link.

Go to API Settings

Click your profile icon → SettingsAPI (in the left sidebar).

Request an API Key

Click Create under “Request an API Key”. Choose Developer when asked.

Fill Out the Form

  • Type of Use: Personal
  • Application Name: Power Scraper Pro
  • Application URL: https://powerscraperpro.com
  • Application Summary: Personal media library management
Accept the terms and submit.

Copy Your API Key

Your API Key (v3 auth) will be displayed. Copy it.

Add to Power Scraper Pro

Open Power Scraper Pro → SettingsAPI Keys → Paste your key → Click Validate
TMDB API keys are free for personal use. There are no limits for typical usage.
Fanart.tv provides high-quality extended artwork including clearlogos, clearart, banners, disc art, and more. These make your Kodi library look stunning.

Create a Fanart.tv Account

Go to fanart.tv and click Login/Signup.

Get Your API Key

Once logged in, go to your profile and find your Personal API Key.

Add to Power Scraper Pro

Open Power Scraper Pro → SettingsAPI Keys → Paste your Fanart.tv key → Click Validate
With Fanart.tv enabled, you’ll have access to:
  • Clearlogo — Transparent logo for overlays
  • Clearart — Character art with transparent background
  • Banner — Wide banner images for Kodi skins
  • Disc Art — CD/DVD artwork
  • Landscape — 16:9 thumbnail images

Validating Your Keys

After entering each key, click Validate to test the connection:
  • Green checkmark — Key is valid and working
  • Red X — Key is invalid or expired
Keep your API keys private. Don’t share them publicly or commit them to code repositories.

Where Are Keys Stored?

Power Scraper Pro stores your API keys securely in the macOS Keychain, not in plain text files. They’re encrypted and protected by your system password.
